POWERCHINA successfully installs all 133 turbines for the 600 MW Monsoon Wind Power Project in Laos, Southeast Asia's largest single wind farm. The project is set to strengthen Laos' renewable energy capacity and boost the regional economy.
President Thongloun expressed his support for the expansion projects, commending the initiative as Laos' first wind power project and the largest in Southeast Asia. He praised its excellence in environmental stewardship and community development, highlighting its role in improving local livelihoods in the project area.
By diversifying Laos' energy mix beyond hydropower and supplying Vietnam with clean electricity, Monsoon Wind directly supports the ASEAN Power Grid initiative, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and advances the region's energy transition. The project is expected to offset approximately 1.3 million tonnes of CO₂ annually.
